Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was expected for concerns to be asked about his position following another convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from above,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory obviously but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them since this game yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Reaction

The manager lamented known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell like this with results like these.”

He finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to its rightful place, prove again the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
