Iran Reports Strike on US Base in Bahrain, During Widespread Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with notable success and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
