Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.
The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Claims Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.
Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable
No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.
Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles
The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
