Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the early names under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday after the squad's ten-game winless start to the Premier League season.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic links to the club - are among the names to be considered by the club ownership.

Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential hurdle to his hiring at Molineux.

However the former Luton Town manager - who played more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a strong contender for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is said to have support from the Wolves directors as they begin the search of appointing a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a surprising appointment given he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is out of work which means Wolves would not need to provide any buyout fee.
